Monohorganj Upazilla

Monohorganj is a very beautiful Upazilla of Comilla District or Cumilla district. Everyone loves his/her native villages. You also love your motherland very much. Monohorganj Upazila is a New Upazilla

Monohorganj is a New Upazilla in Comilla District of Chittagong Division of Bangladesh. It is formed by the divided of Laksham Upazilla.
2 killed in Comilla road mishap

COMILLA, Mar 8, 2009: Two people, including a minor girl, were killed in separate incidents in Muradnagar and Monohorganj upazilas on Wednesday. Police and locals said rickshaw-van driver Abu Taher of Krishnapur village in Muradnagar upazila was slaughtered by his wife Julekha Begum while he was asleep on Wednesday night, reports UNB.
Two houses looted, six injured

A BAND of robbers looted cash and valuables worth Tk 1 lakh from the houses of two expatriates at village Nather Patwa under Monohorganj upazila in Comilla on Friday night. They also injured six villagers during the robberies.
The police said the robbers entered the house of Mojibul Haque and started looting valuables. At one stage the bandits stabbed Mojibul’s wife Shahida Akhter, 38, and their daughter Shahin Akhter, 17. The injured were admitted to Laksam Upazila Health Complex.
The residents said the robbers looted valuables worth Tk 30 thousand from the house.
The robbers at the same night looted valuables worth Tk 70 thousand from the house of another expatriate Shahidul Haque at the village.
But when the robbers were trying to flee with the booty the villagers chased them, prompting the criminals to hurl bombs at the local people.
The bomb attack, which left three villagers injured, could not stop the villagers from chasing the criminals and at last they managed to catch hold four of the robbers. But the looted valuables could not be recovered. The identity of the villagers could not be ascertained immediately.
The local people gave a good thrash to the four robbers, identified as Morshad, 22, Suraj, 20, Foyaz, 21, and Shohag, 20, and handed them over to the police.
A case was recorded with the local police station.
Valuables worth Tk 20 lakh looted
from Comilla house

ARMED robbers looted valuables worth Tk 20 lakh including over Tk 7.5 lakh in cash from the house of a Bangladeshi expatriate in Saudi Arabia at village Lokonpur under Monohorganj upazila in Comilla on Tuesday.
The police said a gang of 10 to 12 robbers broke the collapsible gate of Jahan Monzil and broke open the door of the house with a drill machine. Entering the house the robbers beat up the residents and wife of the expatriate, Golam Sarwar, and his son and took away the keys of the almirahs at gunpoint.
Later, they confined the residents to a toilet, tying their hands from back. The robbers took away around 75 tolas of gold ornaments and Tk 7.5 lakh in cash.
The police visited the spot. But they could neither recover the looted goods nor could they arrest any of the criminals.
Meanwhile, the police arrested eight suspected robbers at Panti Bazar under Muradnagar upazila on Sunday night.
Tipped off, a police team raided the Panti Bazar area at about 11:00pm and arrested Rabilulla, 28, Jamal, 19, Abul Bashar, 26, Chan Mia, 18, Shafiq, 18, Ali Hossain,18, Shamim, 19, Jibon, 24, and Zakir, 25, when they were suspected to have a preparation for committing a robbery in the area.
The police also seized a microbus from their possession.
